Welcome to Friends of the Peacock

VISION: The FOTP's purpose is to protect, promote, and ensure the preservation of the wild peafowl in PVE for future generations of property owners to enjoy as part of the natural character of our semi-rural coastal city. We further exist to uphold the Peafowl Management Program adopted by City Council in 1986, which provides a specific plan for the city to maintain sustaining levels of birds in two flock areas known as Espinosa Circle and Malaga Cove Library areas.

June 9, 2008 - It is with much sadness that I announce the recent passing of FOTP Board Member Ward Proudfoot. Ward passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years, following a series of heart-related complications. In our FOTP newsletter Vol. 3, Ward was spotlighted as long-time, original Friend of the Peacocks, and unofficial Mayor of Espinosa Circle. He was a 48-year resident of PVE and surfed Bluff Cove as a teenager in the 1930's. Those of you in the neighborhood are sure to miss Ward's famous signage on his front lawn, notifying every passerby of the various goings on in the city.
A memorial service will be held for Ward at the Church of Latter Day Saints on Crestridge Road in Rancho Palos Verdes (just up hill from the PV Art Center) at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17. The burial will be held following the service at 4:30 at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Avenue, RPV, and finally a social gathering and dinner for friends and neighbors at Pt. Vicente Interpretive Center, 31501 Palos Verdes Drive West, RPV following the burial at 5:00 p.m.
The family requests that contributions be made in Ward's name to either of his two favorite non-profit organizations: Pt. Vicente Interpretive Center, and Friends of the Peacock.
